Acquisition is the fifth Crayven mission in Ground Control.[1]

Events[]

Enrica Hayes informs Major Sarah Parker that Crayven forces have near-complete control of the Oracle Dunes. The Order has evacuated most bases except one: the Rhegis Base, which is about to undergo evacuation. She believes that as Crayven aerodynes dominate local air space, the Order will be forced to rely on ground transportation to evacuate "the artifact", which Parker correctly guesses that Hayes will not elaborate on. Parker and her squads are sent to capture the artifact.

Objectives[]

You now have access to the Cravyen main battle terradyne - Wolf. The Wolf is armed with a 175 mm large caliber gun capable of demolishing most enemy hoverdynes.

  • Destroy the Order convoy before it reaches the safe zone and recover any cargo.

Walkthrough[]

The player is granted no additional units, but gains the ability to reconfigure their terradyne squads to the SFB-209 AAT Wolf. Wolves are a step up from CT-917 FST Jackals in terms of armor, and their guns are more powerful against armored targets, but they pay for this with reduced speed and an inability to target air units.

The CCMIB-2 Marines are granted the ability to use anti-armor rockets, which are extremely powerful, destroying most vehicles with a single salvo. However, they are not as flexible as mortars as they cannot target infantry.

The objective is to destroy a convoy before it can escape to the north-eastern corner of the map, indicated by the end of the road. The convoy first attempts a southern path, but redirects to a longer northern path if it spots the player. It does not deviate from this northern path even if the player's units are spotted. The convoy is guarded by some light and medium hoverdynes, as well as some OCRU-1001 Crusaders if it takes the northern path. Order hoverdynes not directly attached to the convoy also lie in wait on the northern path.

There is little reason to attack Rhegis base itself. While small, it is heavily guarded by pillboxes and especially Tier-7 Guana turrets, which easily destroy any unit with just a couple of shots. The north-eastern base is even more heavily defended, with more squads of medium hoverdynes, Guana turrets, and even a squad of attack aerodynes. As the player has no effective anti-air units at this point in the campaign, it is best to avoid the north-eastern base entirely.
