The SFB-209 AAT "Wolf" is the main battle terradyne of the Crayven Corporation during the Battle of Krig. The main battle terradyne excels at offensive maneuvers with good firepower and armor. However, it is unable to target aerodynes.

Background[]

The SFB-209 AAT is the main battle terradyne in the Crayven Army. The terradyne excels at offensive maneuvers but requires the support of other vehicles, such as anti-air and scout terradynes. There have not yet been any official requests for a complete overhaul of the Wolf, even though it is the oldest terradyne model in the Crayven repertoire.

The main armament of the Wolf is a Reinhart LAK4-150mm - Storm. The 150mm large caliber gun is considered to be a most efficient and accurate weapon system, firing fin-stabilized sabot rounds. The barrel is configurable for multiple settings with extended recoil absorbers and specially designed Tak-2 coils that give the gunner full control of the gun. A serious weakness with the Wolf is its inability to target aerodynes, which leaves it heavily relying on other support vehicles.

Since the Wolf is an armored assault terradyne it is expected to withstand direct enemy incoming fire and subsequently only the best armor is sufficient. The Wolf is normally armored with B-25 Titanium shockplates but this armor can be bolstered by attaching additional armor plates.

Wolf tank commanders are generally unpleasant to be around as they consider themselves to be better than any fighting unit. They develop a strange bond with their tanks and it is common practice for them to repair a Wolf tank as long as its crew is alive no matter how badly damaged.[1]

Overview[]

The Wolf is the main battle tank of Crayven Corporation. It packs heavier firepower and armor than the CT-917 FST Jackal, but has less firepower and armor per tank than DTT-1203 Grizzly.

In practice, a squad of Wolves has more firepower than a squad of Grizzlies. This is because there are four Wolves per squad compared to the Grizzlies' two.

Wolves are excellent at dealing damage to other vehicles. They deal less damage to infantry than light terradynes, but are still a counter to most infantry aside from ATI-720 Templar, as their frontal armor is immune to most small-arms fire. Wolves are weak to anti-armor weapons and units. They are completely helpless against aerodynes, with no anti-air capabilities. Their side and rear armor is also much weaker than their frontal armor, and combined with their poor perception, wolves are vulnerable to attacks from the flanks or rear.

The combination of wolves' strong armor and large health pools make them ideal for soaking damage on the front lines. Their frontal armor is strong enough to make them impervious to OCRU-1001 Crusaders and W/SAH-4 Apus hoverbikes, though such units are still a threat from the flank or rear.

Wolves can temporarily increase their effectiveness against infantry with their special weapons. HE rounds and Advanced HE rounds both deal extremely high damage against infantry. However, while these rounds are powerful, they require wolves to be firing downward from an elevated position in order to relaibly connect. Otherwise, the perfectly straight trajectory of these rounds may cause them to harmlessly pass over their targets' heads.

Wolves can temporarily increase their accuracy, and thus their damage, by replacing their repair modules with Artemis targeting systems. This is less useful for highly experienced Wolf crews as they are already fairly accurate.

Finally, Wolves can deploy repair stations. These are similar to the repair system on the Rhino Command APC. Repair stations cannot repair each other, nor can they be repaired by the Rhino APC. Nonetheless, wolves (or other units) being repaired by these stations can hold down a location effectively while the APC either supplements with more healing or heals units in other parts of the battlefield. In most missions, repair stations are the only sources of healing for the Command APC, so it is often beneficial to bring at least one wolf squad equipped with repair stations to patch up the APC should it become badly damaged partway through a mission. Repair stations can simultaneously heal targets along with each other and/or the Command APC, allowing even units that are under heavy fire a chance to survive.

The Ground Control manual erroneously lists Wolves as having just one repair station, but they can instead field two per battle.
