The CT-917 FST "Jackal" is the light terradyne of the Crayven Corporation in Ground Control. Light terradynes have good movement and are fairly armed. They are capable of attacking both ground and airborne targets.

Background[]

The CT-917 FST is a light terradyne mainly used for fast attack or scouting missions. The Jackal’s coaxial weapon mount allows it to target both ground and air units. Its Piranha 4-4 SlugDrive is optimized for maximum maneuverability and speed.

Its turret is fitted with a servo contraption allowing for fast rotation and tilting mounted with a coaxial Welby-Simms Cor 13-1.50 AC, an autocannon capable of tearing infantry to shreds and, given some time, can pound through heavy terradyne armor. The weapons dual fire system is configured for optimal performance, assuring the crew that a steady stream of hot tungsten rounds will harass the target.

Except for being a fast terradyne, the Jackal can also be equipped with additional firepower in the form of deployable Marduk GS-5 Sentry Guns. The sentry guns can be placed in strategically important places to assist the defense or serve as early warning systems for the creative Field Commander.[1]

Overview[]

Jackals are light terradynes, ideal for countering hostile infantry. They can also defeat enemy armor if well-supported, though they suffer in direct fights with heavier vehicles and other anti-armor measures. Jackals can engage aerodynes with only limited success as their anti-aircraft fire is usually highly inaccurate. Their high speed allows them to reach different parts of the battlefield quickly or to retreat if outgunned, and they have moderate health.

Jackals can temporarily improve their anti-vehicle or infantry ability through their special weapons: depleted uranium rounds deal significantly more damage to vehicles, while HE grenade launchers fire grenades in an indirect arc. While slow-moving, they deal moderate to high damage to infantry and vehicles alike.

As with most vehicles, Jackals can be equipped with repair modules for instant healing, limited to three uses. They can also replace this ability with deployable sentry guns to supplement their firepower. This latter ability makes Jackals ideal for defensive missions, where the sentries--if kept alive--can more than make up for the Jackals' relatively weaker firepower than heavier terradynes.

The game manual erroneously states that a squad of Jackals may only place one sentry. They may place three sentries in practice, with a 20 second delay between each.
