Simple Escort Duty is the eleventh Crayven mission in Ground Control.[1]

Objectives[]

  • The drop zone must be secured before the scientists arrive and the Xenofact site must be kept clear of enemy intrusions. Protect the science team and escort them back to the drop zone when they have completed.

Walkthrough[]

The player is given an additional unit of support terradynes this mission, as well as the option to have them reconfigured to APF-331 MAAG Ocelots.

This mission is significantly less friendly to aerodynes than the previous mission. Anti-air O1/AAPBT-600 Pavo squads dot the map, with some hidden in crevices that can't be detected by vision short of walking directly into the holes. Numerous assault hoverdynes of all types and OCRU-1001 Crusaders patrol the map also. Small numbers of ATI-720 Templars are stationed on strategic hills. Finally, a significant number of Order OA1/FAS-T12 Lyra and OA2/HAA-309 Phoenix aerodynes are present.

The newly-available anti-air Ocelots should make quick work of any aerodynes. Bringing some scouts can help spot the templar and anti-air hoverdynes before it is too late. Artillery is not as useful as there are no significant emplaced defenses, though they can still flush out enemy units waiting in ambush.

The player is dropped in the north-west corner of the map, and is directed to escort an engineer truck to the north-east corner. The engineers need to be protected while they do their work. After they finish, the player is directed back to the north-west corner, only for the dropship that was supposed to evacuate them be destroyed. This forces the player to use the secondary exfil point in the south-east corner of the map. There, they must hold out for five minutes against the remaining Order forces to achieve victory.

There are two order bases in the south-west corner of the map, though their destruction is not necessary. Patrolling the map and killing off Order units before escorting the engineer truck can help reduce the number of Order forces that attack later. Most of the Order units are near the outskirts of the map, along the southern and western edges.
